Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League despite a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday thanks to AC Milan's victory over Newcastle United.
Dortmund took the lead through Youssoufa Moukoko in the 72nd minute, but Kylian Mbappé equalized for PSG just five minutes later. The draw was enough for PSG to secure top spot in Group H, while Dortmund finished second.
AC Milan's 1-0 win over Newcastle in the other Group H match meant that PSG would have advanced even if they had lost to Dortmund. However, the French champions will be relieved to have avoided defeat and will head into the knockout stages with their confidence boosted.
PSG will now face the runner-up from another group in the quarterfinals, while Dortmund will drop into the UEFA Europa League.
